The app
- No accounts. The app has no sign-up, login, or user profiles — there is nothing to register and nothing that identifies you personally.
- No backend, no servers. Focus Ritual has no server of its own. Everything you enter or generate is stored only in your device's local app storage, using the same mechanism as any other on-device app data.
- What's stored, on your device only: your task names, session history (start/end times and duration, category, theme, and the completion tag shown on that session's Focus Card), any Categories you use and their custom quotes, your theme preferences, and your founding-tester progress. None of this leaves your device.
- Generated images. Focus Cards and Mosaics are drawn entirely on your device and saved straight to your device's own photo gallery. We never see, receive, or store a copy.
- No analytics, ads, or trackers. The app contains no analytics SDK, no advertising SDK, and no crash-reporting or usage-tracking service of any kind.
- Uninstalling removes everything. Since nothing is stored anywhere but your device, uninstalling the app permanently deletes all of it (unless you've saved an export first, or your device's own backup system — like Android Auto Backup — retains a copy).
Permissions this app requests
Every permission below exists for a specific, visible feature — never for data collection. Here's what each one does and why the app asks for it:
- Notifications. Lets the app tell you when a focus session finishes, including while you're using another app.
- Run in the background / foreground service. Keeps your session timer counting accurately and lets the completion alert fire reliably even if you switch away from the app mid-session — without this, Android could pause or kill the timer to save battery.
- Full-screen alert. The session-complete alert can take over the screen much like an alarm clock, so you notice the moment your focused work ends — even if your phone is locked. If you don't enable this in system settings, the app simply falls back to a normal notification banner instead; nothing breaks.
- Exact alarm timing. Lets the completion alert fire at the precise second your session ends, rather than being delayed by the system's default battery-saving scheduling.
- Internet. Included because it's a standard part of the Android app framework the app is built on. The app itself makes no network requests, sends nothing, and fetches nothing — every screen, font, and image is bundled inside the app itself.
This website
- focusritual.app is a static site. It sets no cookies and runs no analytics.
- Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which may log standard technical request data (such as IP address) per Google's font privacy notes. This applies only to the website — the Android app bundles its own fonts and never contacts Google Fonts.
- If you email us to join the closed test, we use your email address only to send you the testing invite and essential testing communication. We do not share it or add it to any marketing list.
Children's privacy
Focus Ritual is intended for students and professionals and is not directed at children under 13. Since the app collects no personal data from anyone — of any age — there is no information about children for us to inadvertently gather.
